Presentation

Medial femorotibial osteoarthritis of the knee with genu varum is almost always associated with metaphyseal varus. Ideally, this deformity should be corrected at its very site, i.e. in the medial tibial metaphyseal area, by medial opening tibial osteotomy.

This osteotomy restores the anatomy of the tibial metaphysis thereby facilitating subsequent arthroplasty, unlike lateral closing tibial osteotomy which is responsible for metaphyseal malunion.

Use of the OSTEO+system eliminates all of the classical disadvantages of medial opening tibial osteotomy and allows :
    * Precisely adjustable opening that can be modified at all stages of the operation.
*Solid fixation eliminating the need for iliac bone graft or wedge.
    *Early rehabilitation without postoperative immobilization.
