Note of anatomy extracted from BRIZON and CASTAING They actually describe the glenoid socket as being oval shaped, with a large and very slightly oblique axle both on the top and on the head. It is positioned upwards, ahead and on the outside, with the shape of a pear, bottom of it larger than the top. Socket to seal The glenoid prosthesis to seal allows for a cheap cutting. It displays a triangular wing, position of it having to be prepared between both sides of cervix and scapula. The surgeon has three different sizes of glenoid prosthesis at his disposal : small, average and large pattern (size 1, 2 and 3). The first step to take is the removal of the remaining cartilage by means of either a curette or a small rotary bone bur, while carefully retracting the under chondroid bone. Positioning the prosthesis requires hollowing of a vertical slit. This slit must be placed to an equivalent distance between the front and back sides of the glene, slightly nearer the bottom polus than the top as the glene is thicker in its bottom half.
