Anterior and posterior resections

The 4 resection aimer is positioned on the distal resection of the femur and impacted into the holes which have previously been marked. It is better to respect the resections in order to give the best possible stability of the 4 resection aimer : that is the anterior and posterior resections followed by the bevelled resections. The saw blade cuts across the 4 resection guide to resect the bone. The markers help to position the blade correctly, so that the resections are accurate. Pressing the blade on the markers in recommended to optimise the resections.

Resection of the bevels

This bevels are made with the same instrument after the antero postero resections, to ensure greater stability of the gauge. After checking that the resection is flat and accurate, the gauge is removed.

Evaluation of measurements

Once the dimensions have been chosen, the trial prosthesis is placed on the distal end of the femur with the femoral impactor, to check for perfect adjustment of the femoral resections.

Condyle extractor can be helped by use of the extraction hammer.
