Insertion of the tibial prosthesis

The chosen stem is impacted onto the tibial base.

The tibial impactor/extractor is fixed to the tibial plate, while the stem remains in place. Before inserting the definitive plate, the thickness of the compoment and the stability of the joint can be checked for the last time, by means of the trial tibial plate.

Insertion of the tibial insert

The three tibial elements (insert, base and stem) are fixed to the centre of the insert with a screw thus ensuring perfect rigidity of the set up.

Preparations of the tibia and the patella are not specific. Resection are the same as for the model with sparing of the posterior cruciate ligament. However, the antero-posterior tibial resection should be performed square to the tibial axis. According the method already described, it is required to put on insert with a central plug into place, which ensures the antero-posterior stability. The setting principle is also the same as before.
