Producing an imprint for tibial anchoring

Two lengths of stem are available. The one whose dimension corresponds to the size chosen is used. Its imprint can be made without any risk of poor positionning. If a long stem is chosen, it is better to position the cross-piece for the punch and to use punch for the long stem.

Operative technique for postero stabilized knee prosthesis

The gauge for the posterior stabilized section of the corresponding size is inserted. It is centered onto the holes by use of guiding plugs. Two handles allow it to be kept in place during bone resection. By means of a specific punch, on the surgeon prepares the space reserved for the future case on the femoral implant. The posterior cruciate ligament is then removed.

Preparation of the patella

Once, the patella is turned outwards, a circular resection is made with a wide bladed oscillating saw, in order to remove all residual cartilage, but sparing the medial and lateral peripheral cortical bones. The resection should be as flat as possible. If necessary, patellar resection can be improved or modified usign rasp.

The gauge of the patellar drill bit is placed onto the resected patellar surface. The size is chosen so that it covers the surface, without protruding. A drill bit with stopper will make the central hole across the gauge, in order to receive the anchoring plug of the patella, that is to be cemented.
