The femoral alignment aimer
| The femoral alignment aimer may be used for either the right or left knee. It can be regulated at 3,5,7,9 and 11 degrees of valgus. It blocks at the chosen alignment in fémoral valgus for each patient, according to the pre-operative measurements. It is centered and stabilised in the notch, with the help of a 25 cm long intermedullary rod. If intermedullary alignment is impossible (pathology, trauma, or presence of the end of a hip prosthesis), 13-21 cm long rods can be used. Removable handles help with alignment and the stability of the femoral alignment viewer. The ins- trument in introduced into a hollowed out cavity made in the groove, until its base reachs the level of the condyle which sticks out most (usually the medial condyle). Rotational alignment is controlled by centering the arm of the viewer on the trochlea groove, or by aligning the guide parallel to the posterior condyles. |

The distal femoral resection guide
|
The distal femoral resection guide slides on the femoral alignment aimer. Its 4 positions allow a resection of 8,10 or 12 mm to be made. The Kalisté prothesis is 8 mm thick at the distal part of the condyle region. The guide is equipped with 3 sets of holes. It fixes itself to the distal part of the femur by means of pins. The viewer can therefore be removed from the femoral canal, leaving the guide in place. If required, the surgeon can reduce or increase the resection level by 2 mm, by moving the guide to the proximal or distal holes. Once the best resection level has been found, the distal femoral resection is performed. |
